F1 SUNSET STAGE

Type of Work: Set and stage, Entertainment design,

Designers: Collective effort with DXDC Design Team

Project Overview

The F1 sunset stage is a DJ Stage designed for the F1 event held every year. For this project my role involved translating the concept design into construction drawings, 3D modeling the stage, prep ready to print files for the illustration, ideate fabrication methods, and create design graphics for DJ booth.

My task was to translate this concept art into 3D models, and draft them to create construction drawings to liase with the contractors.

I was also responsible for creating ready to print files for all the graphics and ideate fabrication methods.

The leaves bellow the stage was constructed in 3 separate layers creating depth. All the elements on work to put the DJ at the center of the audiences sightline and was constructed as flat pieces with counterweights underneath. The tall leaves was initially meant to be fabricated with bent metal but was replaced with a flat machine cut.

DJ BOX ITERATION

The DJ box was fabricated as a box up of the table with counterweights on each side. The graphic in the center was chosen out of 10 iterations I designed. There was 2 layers of LED lights the first one on the DJ Box. The first layer is a simple graphic with LED and the vertical lights are LED incased in transparent plastic material similar to PVE with black graphic printed in front allowing light to shine thorugh. The front vertical lights are reactive to the music.

Last remarks

This project required me to liaise with contractors, and react promptly to problems that arise within the project. The DXDC team developed the concept early on and I was given the responsibility to develop its execution. There was plenty of difficulty to learn from such as the windy conditions of the site, the ever-changing fabrication requirements, and design requirements but with the guidance of the team I was able to collaborate and promptly learn.
