Project Overview:

The DXDC team designed 2 houses for HHN 2023, The DIYU house with the concept of decent to hell, and the All of us are Dead house based on the Korean zombie TV show set in a High School.

For this project my role involved on site theming, sourcing for props, set dressing, and fabricating props.

Theming & Set dressing

Theming for this project involved painting demonic graphic on walls, splattering blood on the set, arranging props to look like a science lab from a scene in a zombie apocalypse, making kitchen appliances look old and dusty, and breaking wooden shelves in the library.

Sourcing for props

For this project we sourced materials that would meet the safety requirement such as plastic bottles that looked like glass, books, clothes, backpacks, kitchen appliances, used condiment bottle, and more.

Creating props

For this project, we needed plenty of Korean books, posters, signage, pictures, x-rays and other miscellaneous props. I was tasked to help create graphics with the desired dirty, and rough effect.

we sourced 100+ used books and individually prepared/printed graphics for them.

For each area of the house we needed multiple graphics for the different posters, signage, labels, class schedules, shelves, and school logos, here are a few of them:

Model making of diyu mirror maze

To better understand the layout, effects, and fabrication of the mirror maze in DIYU house, I was given the opportunity to create a study model where I used foam material, mirror board, and printed graphics.
